1 General

This document sets out the standard numbering system for fixed (or semi-permanent) mechanical and electrical equipment, instrumentation and cabling used in the Cape Preston project. Each item of major equipment shall be tagged with an equipment number derived from this standard, and no other equipment numbers shall subsequently be used to identify the equipment. The equipment numbers define the functional location of the equipment within the project.

Each design consultant shall prepare numbers to identify process sub-areas within their design scope in a logical manner, and shall submit these to the Client for approval prior to general use. After approval, the standard may be used to identify each item of equipment without further approvals.

The equipment numbers shall be utilised in process equipment lists, electrical load studies, process flow diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), instrument lists, general
